Northwest Kidney Centers provides free classes for people with kidney disease at various stages. We also offer individual sessions for special situations.

Choices

Cost: FREE

Our most popular class, Choices, gives people with chronic kidney disease an opportunity to learn about dialysis treatment options, including transplant, and how to plan and prepare for treatment. Eating Well, Living Well

Cost: FREE

In this class, offered to all people living with chronic kidney disease, you’ll learn what a big impact a kidney-friendly diet can have on how you feel. You’ll hear about foods that are good for your heart (important for people living with kidney disease) and tips for shopping, cooking and eating out. Instructors will also discuss hidden sources of salt and low-salt alternatives, giving you the tools you need to create tasty, kidney-friendly meals. To register, call 206-292-2771, ext. 1082.

Medical Nutrition Therapy

Cost: Covered by most insurance providers.

Medical Nutrition Therapy is available to patients not yet on dialysis or patients with a kidney transplant. Meet one-on-one with a dietitian who specializes in kidney disease to create a more personal nutrition plan. You'll learn how to better manage your diabetes, lower your sodium intake and reach your weight loss goal. To schedule an individual appointment, call 206-292-2771, ext. 1082.


Next Step Home Hemodialysis

Cost: FREE

This class is open to kidney disease patients who have already attended our Choices class as well as current dialysis patients who want to learn more about hemodialysis at home. Staff in our Home Hemodialysis department will discuss the benefits of home hemodialysis, the training and the machine used for home. You’ll receive a tour of the training facility and get answers to your questions before you make a decision. To register, call 206-292-2771, ext. 1082.
