New year, new website!

Happy new year! We’re thrilled to launch the new and improved nwkidney.org, a website with need-to-know information for patients, easy-to-sort recipes, and details about upcoming classes. You’ll also find stories from our patients and donors about their personal experiences with kidney disease and Northwest Kidney Centers. One of the best things about this website? All the photos on it show members of our community – patients living full lives with kidney disease, donors supporting our programs, and staff members carrying out our mission.

Here are just a few other features to check out.

Information for patients new to kidney disease

If you’ve recently been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, you might be shocked, scared and worried. You also might be bombarded with information. Our Get Started section was created especially with people like you in mind. Visit this section to search for a kidney doctor, learn the basics of dialysis and transplant and find out what lifestyle changes you can make right now to you’re your kidney disease down. In short, learn what to do next and where to go for more information.

Recipes, recipes, recipes!

If the large, close-up images of our recipes don’t make your mouth water, maybe the new sorting tools will. You can now sort our recipes by diet requirements and restrictions. If you need something low in phosphorus, just check that box. Something high in potassium but low in protein? Check those two boxes and the recipes will automatically filter. You can also sort by meal type (appetizer, lunch, dinner, for example). All of our recipes are low in salt and have earned the seal of approval from our team of registered dietitians. If a recipe looks just too good to keep to yourself, click the links at the top to share it with your friends, or print it out.

Tools for current patients

Get involved in research and beyond

Research has been part of our mission throughout our 50-year history. If you’re a patient interested in participating in research, check out the research opportunities we currently have open. Or, support our mission by making a gift or joining our team.

So what are you waiting for? Dive in, and let us know what you think. Email pr@nwkidney.org to share your ideas about how we can make the website even better.
