We’re proud to sponsor the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure cycling event Sunday, May 22 at Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville.
The event — celebrating its 25th anniversary this year — will take cyclists through the lush vineyards and scenic trails of Snohomish County. In addition to sponsoring the tour, we’re inviting everyone in the Northwest Kidney Centers community to hop on their bicycles and pedal for the cause as “Team NKC.”
A cause close to our hearts
Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney disease. Here at Northwest Kidney Centers, 40 percent of our patients experience chronic kidney failure because of diabetes. Raising awareness of the causes of diabetes, and how to prevent it, is a very important part of our mission.
Since 1991, the Tour de Cure has raised $250 million for diabetes research and community services. Our sponsorship of the Tour de Cure will enable the American Diabetes Association to expand its Stop Diabetes initiative to people who live in South King County, an area with high rates of diabetes and other health challenges.
About the event
The Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held in 44 states nationwide. Participants are invited to form fundraising teams and ride together for a fantastic cause.
