The Buyer is responsible to the Supply Chain Director for purchasing, expediting and other Materiel Management support services. The position is also responsible for communications with vendors, shippers, purchasing groups, and other organizations; for advising department heads and supervisors on purchasing; and for performing relief and/or project duties, when required.
This position has heavy external contacts with vendors, suppliers, purchasing groups, shippers, and other organizations or persons involved in materiel management activities. These contacts are required to research and plan purchasing services; negotiate and/or order supplies, equipment and services; and to performing expediting, troubleshooting and communications tasks.
The position is responsible to the Materiel Manager for decision-making required to perform purchasing duties and responsibilities. These decisions are based on established procedures and practices. Typical decisions include: determining status of orders and deciding how to expedite situations; making sure Materiel Management procedures are observed; and researching questions on substitutions to meet department needs.
The Buyer must have a valid Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance.
40 hours per week, 7:30AM-4:00PM, Mon-Fri.
