Strawberry Tree Salad

Ingredients

Based on about 4 servings per recipe.

  • 1-2 cups Strawberry Fruit
  • 1 cup or 2 fresh + 2 tablespoons honey Mandarin Oranges (fresh or canned)
  • 2 tablespoons Lime Juice
  • 1 per person Bed of salad greens
  • 2-3 ounces Goat cheese
  • 1/4 cup Slivered almonds

Preparation

  1. Strawberry Tree fruit are best served whole.
  2. Toss Strawberry Tree fruit and mandarin orange slices together with a little sugar if fresh, or use the juice of the canned mandarins.
  3. Add lime juice.
  4. Plate up your greens, scatter the Strawberry tree fruit, mandarin oranges, cheese and nuts.

About This Recipe

If you are lucky enough to have a strawberry tree in your landscape, the good news is the flowers attract hummingbirds all winter long, and the orange fruit, dusted with red, can add a kiwi-like flavor to a late fall salad. Only use strawberry tree fruit from trees that have not been sprayed
