Perfect Popcorn Balls

Ingredients

Based on 18 servings per recipe.

  • butter for coating
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 18 cups ( about 8 1/2 tablespoons non popped popcorn kernels) air popped popcorn

Preparation

  1. Butter the sides of a medium saucepan.
  2. Add in water, syrup, vinegar, and sugar.
  3. Begin heating over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  4. Bring to a boil.
  5. Continue to boil until sauce reaches 250 degrees (hard ball candy stage), stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  7. Place popcorn in a large bowl; pour syrup over popcorn.
  8. Stir until popcorn is coated.
  9. Let mixture cool until you can handle it with your hands.
  10. Butter your hands and shape popcorn into 2 1/2 inch balls.
  11. Enjoy!!
