Step 1: Snack often

If you have difficulty eating regular meals, try smaller meals more often. This can help you get extra calories without becoming too full. Throw away your old taboos about snacking and try to eat five or more times a day. Snacking can be a healthy habit.

Simple foods make the best snacks. If foods are easy to prepare, you have more energy left to eat them! Also, try saving something from your meal to snack on later.

Here is a list of other snack ideas.  Check those you will try:

  • Buttered popcorn
  • Cake
  • Cheesecake
  • Cold cereal with milk
  • Cold fried chicken
  • Cold leftovers
    (casseroles, rice, etc.)
  • Bagels, crackers, toast, or english muffins with jam or peanut butter
  • Cookies
  • Cottage cheese and fruit
  • custard
  • Deviled eggs
  • Donut or sweet roll
  • Fruits of vegetables
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Hard candy
  • Milkshakes
  • Nuts
  • Popsicles
  • Pudding
  • Sandwich: egg, tuna, cold meat, peanut butter, and jelly
  • Nutritional supplement
