Breads, Cereals, Rice, and Pasta

If you're like some people watching their weight, you may think you need to cut back on starchy foods. Fat chance! You need starches for energy when you are watching your weight. If your body doesn't get enough energy, it will take it from other sources, like your muscles.

Eat about 4 to 6 servings of starchy foods each day. Your portion should be about one slice of bread, one cup of dry cereal, or one-half cup of cooked cereal, rice, or pasta.
