Eat Foods Low In Saturated Fat

Saturated fats raise blood cholesterol more than anything else in your diet. Eating foods low in saturated fat helps to prevent high cholesterol levels. At the table or in cooking, choose fats which are unsaturated. Using smaller amounts of these fats will cut the fat in your diet even more.

  • Choose oils such as canola, corn, olive, sunflower, safflower, sesame, soybean, or peanut.
  • Tub and stick margarines are better choices than butter. Use margarine or shortening made with the fats listed above, and buy them in liquid, tub, stick, or diet form.
