Symptoms

One in eight adult Americans has Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).  That is 26 million adult Americans!  More than 20 million others are at an increased risk for developing CKD.  Many people don’t know they have this common, harmful --yet treatable -- disease.

Diagnosing and treating CKD can keep it from progressing.  Early detection can also prevent complications like kidney failure, heart disease and premature death.

Many people have Chronic Kidney Disease and do not realize it.

Some symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease include:

• blood in the urine

• pain in the lower back, side, or abdomen

• swelling in the feet and around the eyes

• high blood pressure

• burning or difficulty urinating

• more frequent urination

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, get screened for kidney disease and speak to your physician as soon as possible.

Early detection of CKD can help prolong kidney function.

Kidney disease may reduce kidney function and can lead to kidney failure.
