Anyone at any age can get Chronic Kidney Disease. However, if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of kidney disease, you are at increased risk.
Some communities are also at increased risk: African Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans. This is due to high rates of diabetes and high blood pressure within these ethnic groups.
If you are at increased risk for kidney disease, visit your doctor or clinic and get these three simple tests:
• Blood pressure
• Urine test to check protein level
• Blood test to measure level of creatinine
Getting screened for kidney disease is a great choice for your health!
