Outreach and Community Wide Services

Contributions to the Northwest Kidney Centers Foundation help us fund the following programs:

Annual Kidney Patient & Caregiver Conference
Patients, caregivers, and staff gather for this annual day of learning and support. The Northwest Kidney Centers (NKC) produces this conference for all kidney patients from Washington State.

Speakers from throughout Puget Sound provide seminars on topics of interest to patients. Low-income patients are able to attend free of charge.

Patient Emergency Fund
This fund grants financial assistance to patients for their most basic needs: rent, utilities, and food. Nearly 30 percent of NKC's patients live at or below the poverty line, trying to survive on $7,000 a year or less.

Emergency Grants can mean the difference between stability and homelessness for many of our clients.

Rehabilitation Scholarships
These educational or vocational scholarships are granted to NKC dialysis patients and transplant recipients who are pursuing a degree or specialized training, enabling them to enter the workforce and achieve economic independence.

Community Education & Organ Donation Promotion
Our efforts to raise awareness about kidney function, kidney disease, prevention and early detection are on-going.

NKC volunteers and staff attend health fairs, give talks to community groups, and present NKC's compelling presentation about organ donation -- Together for Life.
