Organization
Each Regional Council (RC) is a community advisory group, comprised of between eight to twelve members. Each council is based in a Northwest Kidney Centers (NKC) service area. RCs are composed of interested citizens, physician(s) from the NKC medical staff and the community, and at least one patient representative from each NKC outpatient facility.
Our councils generally meet three to four times a year. Regional Councils are accountable to the NKC Board of Trustees through their respective chairpersons and regularly report their activity to our Board. The Regional Council Chair also serves as a Trustee on the NKC Board and is a member of the NKC External Affairs Committee.
Mission
The purpose of each Regional Council is to ensure:
• Two-way communication between NKC and each community it serves
• Accountability to that community,
• Support and advocacy of kidney related issues and activities at the local community level.
Responsibilities
1. Advise and support the CEO and Board of Trustees with respect to capacity planning, fundraising, community education, public relations, and public policy.
2. Raise ideas for improvement or areas of concern in support of the Regional Council mission.
3. Take an interest in and connect to the NKC facilities associated with the Council including patients and staff.
4. Facilitate goodwill and support for NKC programs within the service area by developing local contacts and supporting public awareness activities.
5. Seek volunteers to support the activities of NKC and its local facilities.
6. Provide philanthropic support and encourage others to do so.
7. Participate in NKC community leadership activities, providing input and ideas from local communities.
8. Attend Regional Council meetings.
