The mission of the Northwest Kidney Centers is to promote the optimal health, quality of life and independence of people with kidney disease, through patient care, education and research.
• The Northwest Kidney Centers is the fourth largest non-profit independent dialysis organization in the United States.
• We were the first out-patient dialysis center in the world, opening our doors in 1962.
• We provide comprehensive, high-quality treatment for patients with kidney failure as well as support services for patients and their loved ones.
• We have 450 people on our staff and provide $25 million per year in salaries and benefits to our well-trained employees.
• We serve 1300 dialysis patients (1125 people receive treatment in centers and 175 receieve treatment at home). We are the largest provider of dialysis services in the Pacific Northwest and offer one of the largest home hemodialysis program in the United States.
• Our budget is $75 million per year; 75 percent from Medicare’s End-Stage Renal Disease Program. The balance comes from private insurance, Medicaid, Washington State’s Kidney Disease Program, patient resources, and generous community donations.
• No patient is ever denied optimal renal care. We provide nine million dollars in services every year which includes $8 million in payments less than the cost of care, $600,000 in free care and $400,000 in community programs including emergency living expenses, training, research and support programs.
