Senator Patty Murray Spearheads Seattle Kidney Center Appropriation

Northwest Kidney Centers will receive a $476,000 federal appropriation

to help complete the new Seattle Kidney Center’s Special Care Unit.

The project is contained in the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill, signed

March 11, 2009 by President Barack Obama. The bill included NKC’s

newest facility thanks to Washington Sen. Patty Murray, a senior

member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Her work will help NKC provide a new treatment facility for the exceptionally frail and debilitated dialysis patients in King County. The Seattle Kidney Center will also provide training and education for those who rely on home dialysis in the state.

“We are investing in Main Street again,” said Sen. Murray. “In the face of a deepening recession, this bill puts federal funding back into our communities where it can create and save jobs and address local needs. I'm proud to work to return King County taxpayer dollars to projects in their own backyard.”
