Steve Huebner

Steve Huebner, chair of Northwest Kidney Centers’ board of trustees in fiscal year 2010, is a veteran of more than a dozen years on the board. As a partner in KPMG, the audit, tax and advisory firm, he brings professional expertise to his service on the Northwest Kidney Centers board’s investment and finance committees.

Over the years, he’s developed a keen appreciation for what dialysis patients endure and the care staff members provide. That experience has spurred him to help recruit corporate sponsors for the Breakfast of Hope and to donate to staff training and other projects at Northwest Kidney Centers.

"As I began to understand the linkage of kidney failure to other chronic diseases related to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc., it just reinforced the need to educate and serve at-risk populations as well as existing predialysis and dialysis patients," Steve says. "I have supported staff training since I believe in the significant commitment and sacrifice our staff makes personally."

Northwest Kidney Centers keeps people in the Seattle area alive with dialysis care, educates the public about kidney health, and collaborates with UW Medicine in the Kidney Research Institute. We are one of very few community-based, nonprofit dialysis providers in the country. Founded in 1962, ours was the first out-of-hospital dialysis program in the world and it is still a model in the field.
