Northwest Kidney Centers' Clyde Shields Service Award is given to people who make significant contributions to the welfare of kidney patients through advocacy, clinical care, or research.
It is the highest honor Northwest Kidney Centers bestows to a non-nephrologist.
The Clyde Shields Award is named after the world’s first patient to live on maintenance hemodialysis. Mr. Shields had his first treatment at the University of Washington Hospital March 9, 1960.
